On another note, Project X this, Project X that, whatever. Like what is Project X and why do you care?! Well here it is.
For the past year we, Conely Motor Sports, have been working on a television pilot. That's the hook, now here's the rest of the story to date:
A local commercial video production business, one that has Big 3 automakers as customers, approached us about producing an HDTV reality TV series. The end hopes were to offer this to one of the leading cable networks and then have it picked up as a weekly story about an underdog racing team and their efforts to get into the "big leagues." The concept was to follow the team around as it worked in the garage, dyno-cells, tested at the track and the whole racing weekend process. This is what they have been doing for about a year now. Think of the Orange County guys and their weekly story line and now apply it to a grass roots racing program from Brighton, Michigan and you get the picture.
Where we stand now.
Things have changed. Our main cable target went to another garage for a different story line. We, our producers, approached another cable group with our demo video, all in glorious HDTV, where it was warmly received. Somewhere along the lines NASCAR came into play, probably because our video crew had to be in constant contact with them about wanting to tape the team at track locations, and our video guys now have some contract work for NASCAR.
Now what? Well, we've got some nifty DVD's floating around the office of the promo-pilot and that is pretty much it from a practical standpoint. We didn't really do much different than be our selves for the cameras and did not have to alter schedules to accommodate the crews, nice guys actually. We didn't lose out much in this process and it was fun to do. It would have been a blast if it had taken off though.
When we can get the video into a format that works here on the site we will post it for you to see. The piece runs around 16 minutes.
